Each year, the VISIT FLORIDA Marketing and Events Team hosts a series of VIP (Very Important Meeting Planner) events. The sites are strategically located in major feeder cities with a high concentration of meeting professionals that have the potential to bring their meetings to Florida. Making an impression, and creating fun and unique events, is our ultimate goal in developing a future relationship with the planners. We look at each feeder market differently, and work to plan each event around a theme or activity that will foster engagement and networking. And engagement was certainly strong with an average of 12 VISIT FLORIDA Partners and more than 50 planners attending each event. Continue reading »

This week marks the start of VISIT FLORIDA’s year-long commemoration to honor the 500th anniversary of Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon’s arrival on Florida’s sunny shores. Last week, VISIT FLORIDA and a contingent of our Florida tourism industry Partners attended World Travel Market at the ExCel Centre in London. This four-day, business-to-business exhibition, which is the second largest tradeshow in the world, provides a unique opportunity for the worldwide travel and tourism industry to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business. While total numbers are still being finalized, the show reported that through its first three days attendee numbers increased by 4% over the same time period last year. Continue reading »
