VISIT FLORIDA and 14 of our Industry Partners recently participated in the 2016 New York Times Travel Show, the largest and longest-running trade and consumer travel show in North America. The three-day event featured the Travel Industry Conference, consumer seminars and an interactive exhibition including more than 500 exhibitors from 150 countries. This year’s attendance of more than 29,000, including 900 domestic and international media, was the highest in nine years and the second most ever, providing VISIT FLORIDA and our Partners with a tremendous platform to share the message about Florida’s unique and diverse destinations to a global travel audience. VISIT FLORIDA’s Visitor Services Department rolled out the Certified Travel Information Centers (CTIC) Program at the beginning of the fiscal year. CTIC certification brings VISIT FLORIDA recognition to welcome center facilities around the state, providing the institutions and their staff with benefits that enable successful promotion of travel to and throughout Florida. VISIT FLORIDA recently hosted our first annual Dallas Travel Trade Luncheon, bringing a ray of Florida sunshine to this growing domestic market. Texas is the sixth ranked feeder state for visitors to Florida and the Dallas area is the Sunshine State’s eighth leading origin Designated Market Area (DMA). Over the last two years, Dallas has shown a double digit percentage growth, with nearly 800,000 visitors flying to Florida from the city each year. Continue reading »
