VISIT FLORIDA Helps Miami Seaquarium Celebrate Flipper’s 50th |
VISIT FLORIDA was on site today as the Miami Seaquarium held a reception and press briefing to announce a special celebration of the 50th anniversary of the “Flipper” television show that will bring “A Year Full of Wonder” to South Florida. I was proud to be asked to kick off the event by reminding those in attendance of the worldwide attention “Flipper” brought to the Sunshine State back in the sixties.
When “Flipper” first aired in 1964, Florida had 14.5 million visitors. Last year, the state welcomed 91.5 million travelers from 184 countries. It is through innovative marketing and promotions like “Flipper” over the past 50 years that have inspired visitors from around the globe to visit Florida. The amazing experiences that our attractions like the Miami Seaquarium have provided to our guests over the years have put the Sunshine State in a position to be the No. 1 travel destination in the world.
As the original film location of the popular TV series, the Miami Seaquarium will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the television program’s first broadcast with a year-long celebration. Tagged “A Year Full of Wonder,” the commemoration will feature special events at the park and around South Florida along with giveaways, promotions and festivities for the whole family.
Congratulations to Andrew Hertz and the entire Miami Seaquarium team on a great event today and what I know will be a tremendously successful year-long commemoration.
