Now It’s My Turn to Visit Florida |
This October, I will have spent 14 years as an executive with VISIT FLORIDA. I’ve seen the organization grow, stumble and prosper, and the past six years have proved to be the most challenging and rewarding.
I announced my intention to retire last July, but with proposed changes taking place I wanted to ensure my departure would not disrupt a smooth transition. I will stay through September in my current role. Until then, I also have agreed to be an “Executive on Loan” one week each month to Brand USA.
This is an exciting time for our industry with the establishment of a national tourism organization and I’m thrilled to be able to help our former CEO move this forward.
VISIT FLORIDA also has requested that I continue to work with them on a project basis for the next little while to ensure continued success of the Governor’s Conference and a revitalized Florida Huddle. This also gives me the opportunity to continue working with the tremendous team we have here in Tallahassee.
I will be relocating by September, most likely to southwest Florida. What will I miss most about Tallahassee? The airport – the only airport in my life where you always hear: “Ladies and Gentleman, we are number one for departure.”
