VISIT FLORIDA Partners Make Florida Camping Month a Big Success

By on October 26th, 2012 — 3:48pm

While for many the month of October may bring to mind images of pumpkins, ghosts, ghouls and vampires, here at VISIT FLORIDA we are excited to be celebrating “Florida Camping Month.”  To promote this special event, the I-10, I-75, I-95 and US-231 Official Florida Welcome Centers – managed and operated by VISIT FLORIDA – are taking a creative approach by setting up camping displays in the lobby of each of their facilities.  The interactive displays are a great way for visitors to have a seat and “camp out” while learning more about the great camping opportunities available in the Sunshine State.

Through our partnership with the Florida Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, this year’s Camping Month displays also include  their traveling RVs available for tours in the parking lot.  All the VISIT FLORIDA Partners participating in the Welcome Center Camping Month programs are guaranteed the added exposure to thousands of visitors who stop in to the Welcome Centers each day.

This has been a great year for the Welcome Centers, with more than 1.8 million visitors already coming through the four Interstate Welcome Centers from January to September, representing a 12.4 percent increase from the previous year.

As an invaluable resource for visitors to the Sunshine State, the knowledgeable and helpful staff at Florida’s Official Welcome Centers provide a wealth of information to millions of Florida visitors each year.  In addition to offering detailed travel planning advice, the centers also provide maps, brochures and even a free glass of Florida citrus juice!
