Sunshine Matters

These are unprecedented times.  Few of us have ever experienced anything approaching this situation before.  The outpouring of assistance and support for the victims, their family and friends and the Orlando community has been heartwarming and inspirational.

Orlando and its residents are resilient, and I know they will continue to be a strong and welcoming community.  As they begin to recover from this tragedy, it will be important for all of us in the tourism industry to continue to support them going forward.  One great way to do this is by participating in the “Dine Out for Orlando United” event on Thursday, June 30, 2016.

Led by the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association in partnership with VISIT FLORIDA, the fundraiser will be a day for Florida restaurants, their employees and guests to make a difference in the lives of those affected.  All proceeds raised will be donated to the OneOrlando Fund, which is designed to provide a way to respond to the needs of the local community, now and in the time to come.  To find out more about how businesses, employees and guests can get involved, as well as view a growing list of participating restaurants, go to frla.org/dine-out-orlando/.

This is a time for unity, compassion and healing.  As we all move forward together, I know the Florida tourism industry will be here for each other and for the Central Florida community.
