Florida Welcomed 15.2 Million International Visitors in 2015 |
VISIT FLORIDA’s newly released preliminary international visitor numbers show that Florida welcomed 15.2 million international visitors from 190 countries who spent more than $15.8 billion in the Sunshine State in 2015. Canada continues to be the top international country for travel to Florida, with more than 3.9 million visitors spending $4.1 billion. The U.K. ranked second overall and first among overseas visitors to Florida, with 1.7 million visitors. Brazil, Argentina and Colombia round out the top five international countries for visitation to Florida.
Europe has regained its status as the top region for visitors to Florida, accounting for 4.1 million visitors or 27% of total international visitors in 2015. Canada was second, followed by South America with 3.8 million. These top three world regions combined to account for 78% of all international visitors to Florida last year.
South America is top in visitor spending, at $4.4 billion or 28% of the total international spend in Florida in 2015. Canada was second and Europe third at $3.5 billion. These top three world regions combined account for 76% of all international spending in the Sunshine State in 2015.
