VISIT FLORIDA Intensifies Presence with United Kingdom’s Sports Fans |
Last month, VISIT FLORIDA took over the National Football League’s Jacksonville Jaguars website. As the NFL works to create American football fandom in London, the Jaguars played (and defeated) the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, October 24 in front of a sold out crowd at Wembley Stadium.
The Jaguars London takeover week garnered nearly 500,000 impressions for VISIT FLORIDA and included a full takeover of Jaguars.com, including VISIT FLORIDA’s banner ad on all of the site’s pages, VISIT FLORIDA wallpaper on all pages, pre-roll videos prior to every third video play, a cover story featuring VISIT FLORIDA’s image, logo tags in social media and all video content throughout the week, logo tags in Jaguars’ E-newsletters, and serving as the presenting sponsor of “Gameday Live.”
In addition, Yahoo and the NFL announced that the exclusive Yahoo live stream of the Jaguars-Bills game from London attracted a large global audience with 33.6 million total views, of which more than 33 percent of the streams were by international users across 185 countries worldwide. Read more about this on Yahoo! Sports.
With 10 percent of international visitors coming from the United Kingdom in 2014, Florida is a well-known destination among U.K. travelers and benefits from direct flights to multiple Florida destinations. These factors have provided Florida with historically high U.K. visitor volume and make it an important international market. Last year, Florida hosted 1.6 million visitors from the U.K. who added $1.36 billion to the state’s economy.
In August, VISIT FLORIDA announced a partnership with London’s Fulhman Football Club. Both of these partnerships provide significant opportunities for VISIT FLORIDA to engage with sports fans and the wider football fan base through social and digital media platforms and marketing initiatives. They also allow VISIT FLORIDA to raise awareness for Florida’s diverse range of active holiday options and experiences, including world-class sports, wonderful beaches and amazing theme parks.
