To leverage international travel trade and media already visiting the Sunshine State to attend our signature event Florida Huddle, VISIT FLORIDA organized seven highly successful pre- and post-familiarization (FAM) tours of several Florida destinations. Co-hosting these FAMs with local CVBs and other tourism businesses allowed key international travel trade representatives and travel writers to experience for themselves all that Florida has to offer so they can share their personal experiences with clients and readers back home. Ranked fifth among countries for international visitation to the Sunshine State in 2015, Colombia is an important global market for VISIT FLORIDA. To ensure Florida stays top of mind for in-country travel trade, media and consumers, our International Sales & Market Development team recently completed a two-month activation program consisting of travel agent training workshops, a Florida Section at the 35th edition of ANATO, and a two-day on site sales activation in Bogota following the show with 11 of our Florida Industry Partners. VISIT FLORIDA’s newly released preliminary international visitor numbers show that Florida welcomed 15.2 million international visitors from 190 countries who spent more than $15.8 billion in the Sunshine State in 2015. Canada continues to be the top international country for travel to Florida, with more than 3.9 million visitors spending $4.1 billion. The U.K. ranked second overall and first among overseas visitors to Florida, with 1.7 million visitors. Brazil, Argentina and Colombia round out the top five international countries for visitation to Florida. Continue reading »
