During a press conference at Epcot this morning, Governor Rick Scott announced that Florida set another record in tourism by welcoming 105 million visitors in 2015. This is the fifth consecutive record year for visitation to Florida, exceeding the previous high of 98.5 million in 2014 by 6.6 percent. The average number of direct travel-related jobs in 2015 was also a record high, with 1,199,200 Floridians employed in the tourism industry – up 53,400 or 4.7 percent over the same period last year. VISIT FLORIDA and 16 of our Industry Partners traveled to New York City earlier this week to share the Florida warmth with more than 40 top New York journalists, including Travel and Leisure, Frommer’s and Connexions Magazine. For three hours, attendees escaped the freezing NY weather to enjoy vibrant Florida-inspired decor, while waitstaff in beach attire served Florida specialty drinks and hors d’oeuvers, including mini key lime pies.
