This October, I will have spent 14 years as an executive with VISIT FLORIDA. I’ve seen the organization grow, stumble and prosper, and the past six years have proved to be the most challenging and rewarding.
I announced my intention to retire last July, but with proposed changes taking place I wanted to ensure my departure would not disrupt a smooth transition. I will stay through September in my current role. Until then, I also have agreed to be an “Executive on Loan” one week each month to Brand USA. Continue reading »

VISIT FLORIDA, a half-hour show of Spanish-language travel stories reported and produced by VISITFLORIDA.com journalists, debuted this week on Bright House Networks from Tampa Bay to Orlando.
The travel series is airing at 1:30 and 8:30 p.m. through March 24 on InfoMás, Bright House’s 24-hour, Spanish-language news and information channel. In the Bright House market, that channel is 900. Continue reading »

Yesterday, the Partnership for Florida’s Tourism and five other statewide organizations hosted the industry’s annual Florida Tourism Day. This all-day event at the Florida Capitol provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the state’s No. 1 industry to the legislature and to educate them on the rationale for tourism marketing public funding.
