Sunshine Matters

Bonjour!  VISIT FLORIDA and Partners recently brought the sunshine – and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream – to the Air Canada Vacations (ACV) Reservation Center in Montreal.  Last year, a record 3.7 million Canadians traveled to Florida, spending $4.4 billion.  In 2013, ACV booked over 22,000 room nights in Florida. Last week, VISIT FLORIDA exhibited with Universal Orlando Resort and Visit St. Pete/Clearwater at the Ignite Business Expo (iBE) in Toronto.  This appointment trade show attracts meeting professionals from the Greater Toronto Area and northern U.S.  Two key topics during our appointments were securing meeting space for 2016 and learning more about possible incentive components to incorporate into an existing event. VISIT FLORIDA and more than a dozen industry Partners recently hosted two media receptions in Canada themed “SUNsets and Surprises: Expect the Unexpected.”  One event was held at The Windsor Arms in Toronto with over 70 media in attendance and the other in Calgary at Hotel le Germain with nearly 30 media guests. Last week, Florida played host to more than 40 of Canada’s most productive and prolific media at the Society of American Travel Writers’ Canadian Chapter Annual Conference held at the Hyatt Regency in Sarasota.   In addition to their general business meeting and professional development series, attendees took part in the Media Marketplace showcasing several local VISIT FLORIDA Partners.  As part of the conference, media also had the opportunity to do site visits to Sarasota area attractions such as the Ringling Museum, Big Cat Habitat and the outdoor sculpture exhibit at Bayfront Park.
